WHAT IS IT:
It is a tendinitis of the hand that mainly affects women between the ages of 30 and 50 and consists of the inflammation and swelling of two tendons that move the thumb, with a consequent difficulty in sliding at the level of the channel through which they pass.
In some cases, the pain can radiate to the entire forearm, up to the elbow.

CAUSES:
The causes that determine the onset of this syndrome can be multiple, including an individual predisposition; some repetitive activities that involve the flexion-extension movement of the thumb (in fact it is very frequent among musicians, athletes, embroiderers); sudden functional overloads and rheumatic diseases.

REMEDIES:
It is necessary to visit a specialist to evaluate the severity and stage of progression of the disease.
Treatment may include the administration of anti-inflammatory drugs, cryotherapy treatments, the use of a specific brace, and if symptoms do not improve, surgery may be necessary.
If this syndrome is neglected it can evolve into rhizarthrosis.
