Joint pain is defined as a painful manifestation, often accompanied by swelling and inflammation, affecting one or more joints in the body, including the shoulder, knee, wrist, hand, hip, leg, and foot.

The disorder has very different causes. Often, joint pain is the consequence of lesions, injuries or trauma to the joints or peri-articular areas (for example, fractures, dislocations, sprains, etc.). This painful manifestation may also depend on the presence of inflammation (arthritis) or a degenerative and progressive process affecting the cartilage cushions located between the joints (arthrosis).

Pain may occur in combination with swelling, redness, heat, joint stiffness and is very common especially as we age.
